Privacy Policy

Last updated: March 2025

ProfitPie (“we”, “us”, “our”) is committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains what personal information we collect, why we collect it, how we use it, and your rights under the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs).

By using ProfitPie at profitpie.app or my.profitpie.app (the “Service”), you agree to the collection and use of information as described in this policy.

1. Information We Collect

Account information

When you create an account we collect your email address, name (if provided), and a hashed password or OAuth token if you sign in via Google or Apple. We do not store plain-text passwords.

Property analysis data

When you analyse a property we store the data you enter or import, including listing URLs, property addresses, purchase prices, loan details, and scenario assumptions. This data is linked to your account so you can retrieve analyses later.

Usage data

We collect standard web server logs and analytics data, including your IP address, browser type, pages visited, and time spent. This is used to improve the Service and diagnose technical issues. We use privacy-respecting analytics and do not sell this data to third parties.

Payment information

Subscription payments are processed by Stripe. We do not store your credit card number or bank details on our servers. Stripe's privacy policy governs how your payment information is handled.

Cookies

We use essential cookies to keep you signed in and to remember your preferences. We may use analytics cookies to understand how people use the Service. You can disable non-essential cookies in your browser settings, though some features may not work correctly.

2. How We Use Your Information

  • To create and manage your account and provide access to the Service.
  • To run property calculations and store your analysis history.
  • To send transactional emails (account confirmation, password resets, receipts).
  • To send product updates and announcements if you have opted in. You can unsubscribe at any time using the link in any email.
  • To process payments and manage subscriptions.
  • To monitor and improve the Service, and diagnose technical issues.
  • To comply with legal obligations.

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to third parties for marketing purposes.

3. Disclosure of Your Information

We may share your information with:

  • Service providers — such as Supabase (database hosting), Stripe (payments), and Resend (transactional email). These providers are bound by confidentiality obligations and may only use your data to provide services to us.
  • Sharing recipients — if you share a live report link, the recipient can view the analysis associated with that link. No account information is shared.
  • Legal requirements — if required by law, court order, or government authority.
  • Business transfers — in the event of a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, your information may be transferred. We will notify you before your information is transferred and becomes subject to a different privacy policy.

4. Data Storage and Security

Your data is stored on servers located in Australia or the United States (via Supabase). We use industry-standard security measures including encryption in transit (TLS), encryption at rest, and access controls. However, no method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure.

We retain your account data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we will delete or anonymise your personal information within 30 days, except where we are required to retain it for legal or tax purposes.

5. Your Rights

Under the Australian Privacy Act, you have the right to:

  • Access the personal information we hold about you.
  • Request correction of inaccurate or incomplete information.
  • Request deletion of your personal information (subject to legal retention obligations).
  • Opt out of direct marketing communications at any time.
  • Make a complaint to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC).

To exercise any of these rights, contact us at hello@profitpie.app. We will respond within 30 days.

6. Children's Privacy

The Service is not directed to individuals under the age of 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.

7. Third-Party Links

The Service may contain links to third-party websites (such as property listing platforms). We are not responsible for the privacy practices of those sites. We recommend reviewing their privacy policies before providing any personal information.

8. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will update the “Last updated” date at the top of this page and, where appropriate, notify you by email. Continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
